About

Aaron Moreno - Product Designer

My name is Aaron Moreno and I am a UI/UX product designer currently based in southwest Idaho (Boise Region). I am open to new opportunities that are fully remote or allows for a hybrid arrangement. I am open to occasional travel for team building, brainstorming or simply meeting to level up the approach to a design first solution that customers will be delighted by.

Lastly, my personal experience advising and consulting as a product design advocate for an array of clients across various industries over the last 10 years positions myself to approach design challenges with an open perspective.

Let's discuss how I may be able to help deliver a first in class product!

After migrating to Idaho with my family, I found an opportunity with Micron located in the Boise Idaho metro as a UX/UI designer. In late 2024 (August), I stepped in and started contributing across different areas of the corporate website with functionality improvements, enhanced designs and presentation of content. Additionally, I own the digital interface design system (FIGMA) for all Micron digital properties. The design system consists of atomic level elements and when combined, create reusable web components for presenting product and company information to thousands of monthly site visitors. Very recently, the UX team is actively exploring and experimenting with AI tools to improve our design process and faciliate smooth design-to-developer handoff.

Project Highlights
  • Micron Web Design system management - Migrate existing system in Adobe XD to Figma. Build and maintain Figma component library. Document and manage process for updates. Create funcitonal prototypes for quick iteration and updates for brand campaigns and general site updates.
  • Micron Brand Portal: Full brand site redesign as a part of a broader cloud migration. Mapped out site, identified core functionality and built site pages for design to dev handoff.
  • Design system component visual updates and usability enhancements
  • Other areas currently in development

After several intriguing coversations with the founding team, an exciting opportunity in the Cyber Security field with Authentic8 presented itself and I took it as a chance to level up and contribute in a space I found very exciting. The founders prior effort was acquired by Google and I felt confident in the teams short and long term goals for the company and the product they planned on delivering.

  • Owned all design for the Desktop app (Mac, Windows, Linux) and the iOS app.
  • Designed and delivered the first fully functional administration console for User and Group management.
  • Designed early iterations of the corporate website
  • Designed customer portals and entry points into the cloud based service
  • Contributed to various sales & marketing initiatives delivering web graphics, data sheets, and related print collateral for conferences.

After my wife and I had our first child together and I spent time focused on our family - I started a job search in the summer of 2010 and stumbled across a position at Xpert Financial, a FINTECH startup with big ideas and goals. After meeting with the team, I accepted a position as their UI Designer. The team was small but nimble, focused on building the first version of their trading platform. The customer base was focused on accredited investors looking to buy and sell private shares and at the time, directly competing with SecondMarket.

  • Worked directly with founding team on core product, features and delivereables for version 1 and beyond
  • Worked on and supported early designs for the core product known as Financial OS before company rebrand
  • Built out version 1 of the backend management system
  • Supported various marketing design efforts: T-Shirts, Postcards, posters, flyers, sales sheets, custom OTP authentication tokens and branded boxes.

At IBM, my role expanded to take on more ownership of projects while growing my skills in software design. This was my first hands-on experience with usability testing and validating design decisions that directly impacted the experience of thousands of users across a vast family of software products.

I attended the Academy of Art University working towards a Bachelors of Fine Art with a focus in New Media design (All things digital and web based). While attending the Academy of Art, I joined IBM as a design intern at the Silicon Valley Lab in San Jose, CA where I worked two consecutive 6-month internships. Upon graduating, I converted to full time at IBM where my role expanded to take on more ownership of projects.
